A Brief History

A Brief History

The post prolonged economic and monetary crisis of 1998 and the decline of the value of the rupiah, the low economic growth and the high unemployment rate became the basis to review the role of economics in general for the faculty of Economics and Business as an Institute of  Education that graduate scholars  in the field of economics.

Trisakti University is located in the middle of the Metropolitan City of the Capital of the Republic of Indonesia which is the center of various administrative activities of the Government, Trades, Industries, Services, Education, Finance and Banking, and becomes local and foreign tourists destinations. As the center of various such activities, then of course the city is  the center of the turnover of money and foreign exchange in large quantities that require financial professionals to answer the challenge. Thus on July15, 2004, the rector of Trisakti University issued a Decree of the Rector of Trisakti University Number: 196 / USAKTI / SKR / VII / 2004 on the Establishment of a Preparatory Team for the Preparation of a New Field Study Program in Trisakti University chaired by DR. H. Muljatno Sindhudarmoko, who unfortunately, while preparing the proposal passed away.

In various discussions, the team invited financial experts, both in Corporate and in International Finance as for Micro Finance as well as Public Finance, and Money Market as for Macro Finance. They concluded that graduates from various disciplines in Indonesia, especially the Faculty of Economics, had not been able to prepare ready-work personnel in the field of finance. Based on the results of the Comparative Study of the team led by the late Prof. DR. H. Sofyan Syafri Harahap, Ak, MACc to several Universities Abroad, it was found out that the education of Financial Sciences (School of Finance or the like) had been widely opened, and the team found there were 150 courses or equivalent to 450 credits from financial disciplines that had not been taught in the study program in Indonesia. Thus, Financial Science education not only had the opportunity to open academic and professional education with undergraduate education level One (S-1), but also further programs Strata Two (S-2) and Strata Three (S-3) or Doctoral Program. When the discourse was submitted to the Ministry of National Education in the form of a Feasibility-Study Results Proposal in 2005, the National Department of Education (Diknas) responded that they were still using the old paradigm that Financial Science was a part of Economics and it could not stand as a one faculty for itself. The impasse and long wait was finally agreed with a win-win solution, namely by  the grant of the operational permit from the Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) Number: 422 / D / T / 2008 dated January 28, 2008 in the form of Applied Bachelor of Finance Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business and equivalent to S-1 in the field of finance, and its graduates would receive a Bachelor of Applied Finance (S.Tr.Keu) degree. With the release of the operational permit, the Rector of Trisakti University then issued a Decree Number: 047/USAKTI/SKR/II/2008 on the Establishment of the Applied Bachelor program in Finance of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Trisakti University, followed by the Letter of Assignation from the Rector, Number: 040/D.04.Usakti/II/2008 on the Position, the Organization and Personnel under the leadership of Prof. Dr. H. Yuswar Zainul Basri, Ak, MBA as the Program Chairman and Drs. H. Mulyadi S., MSi as the Program Secretary. In June 2013, the Program Chairman was led by Drs. Ishar Baharuddin, Ak. MBA, the Program Secretary was Drs. Masfar Gazali, MBA and assisted by Head of Academic Section Khirstina Curry, SE, ME, and the Head of Administration & Finance staff was Drs. Suhadi, MM, and Head of Student Affairs Dr. Muhadi, MM, MH, MBA.

The second accreditation was implemented in July 2017 and the study program received a “B” assessment from BAN PT under the Decree Number: 2670/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/Dipl-IV/VIII/2017, dated August 7, 2017 concerning the Results, Status and Accreditation Rating of Diploma Four Study Program for Finance Program, at Trisakti University.

In 2019 based on the Decree (SKR) No. 3525 / USAKTI / SKR / IX / 2019 related to the Release and Appointment of the Chairman and Secretary of the Study Program in the scope of Diploma IV of Financial Sciences at FEB USAKTI,  the Bachelor of Applied Finance Study Program was directly managed under FEB. The chairman of The Study Program was Dr. Tri Kunawangsih P, MSi and Dr. Rinaldi Rustam, SE. ME as the Secretary. In 2020 there was a change in the organizational structure in the Applied Finance Bachelor Study Program. Based on the Decree (SKR) No: 607 / USAKTI / SKR / IV / 2020, Dr. Tri Kunawangsih P, MSi is now reappointed as the Chairman of the Study Program, and the Secretary is Dr.Agustina Suparyati, SE. ME.
